My wife and I had the pleasure of experiencing a Platinum Package dive/snorkle trip with Tony and his team at the UBS Dive Center. It was by far the best experience we have had in the islands, and after trying other dive shops we would not go anywhere else but UBS. Tony and Kate run a full service shop, and can go from provisioning certified divers with boat side tank exchanges to getting beginning divers certified and out for a day of excellent diving. They know all of the best dive sites and can get you there quickly with all the right equipment quickly and safely. No matter what your needs are they can customize a package that fits your style and your budget. I recommend a full day Platinum package trip, the diving was amazing, the food incredible, and heading home as the sun sets sipping a chilled glass of wine is a wonderful way to end a perfect day in and on the water. My brother and I dove with Tony and it was fantastic. It was a private dive, ie we didn't go with a bunch of people who slowed the whole trip down (we literally saw crews of 10-20 people diving and it looked awful). We dove the Rhone in the am and had it to ourselves because Tony was smart enough to take us there before the crowds showed up! Then we dove a nearby reserve that was UNBELIEVABLE. Saw a nurse shark as well as a reef shark.
It was truly a memorable dive and I would absolutely recommend UBS to anyone. Tony was friendly, attentive and safe.

I visited the BVI this past summer/fall and one of the purposes for my visit was to advance my diving education. I was an Open Water Diver and my goal was to become a rescue diver. I approached several dive shops and decided to do my courses with UBS becuase of there smaller size I felt I would get a better experience rather than get lost in the mix. Boy was I glad I chose UBS! Kate and Tony are a wealth of knowledge and experience and they treated me like family. The dive center was neat and tidy. The boats were clean and well maintained not to mention FAST! Also they got loads of new gear in and that was cool to have all the nice things. The dive boats were easy to manuver and easy to get in and out of the water. During my time with UBS I got to shadow on many dives and I can tell you that Tony and Kate treat each and every diver they take out as family. I did get a chance to dive with a few other operations in the BVI and I felt lost in the large groups. When I mentioned I was a diver in training I was met with condosending attitude from other dive centers. I really enjoy UBS for the simple reason that they give a hoot and go out of their way to make one feel like they are welcome! I would highly recommend UBS dive center over ANY other dive company in the BVI! Amazing

Because it is private (you can go as a group) the rate is a bit higher, but after seeing the swarms of people with other dive centers, I was really happy we chose UBS. We got much more out of our dives. Show less 2012 Among the best dive instructors and guided dives anywhere in world
Tony and Kate were fantastic. I was certified on the Great Barrier Reef and have been diving all over the world--what is important when diving is having someone who is knowledgable about the reef and can take you to spots where you will see things, and not waste your time.
Tony, who directs Reef Guardians, a government-sponsored group who is trying to stop the epidemic of Lionfish, exactly fits that description. We had 4 incredible dives--two on the Rhone, one the Indians, and one nearby the Indians on Tony's suggestion.
Yes, as some other reviewers have pointed out, you can see the impact of the recession--they have cut their office staff and so you may be leaving messages that are returned instead of speaking to someone, but the most important thing was that we had great dives where we saw things, and dive masters who were unafraid to give their opinion when we (the tourists who had been there for a week) had a silly notion in our heads about what sites to visit.
Not only are they extremely well priced, they also let us borrow snorkel equipment (without charging us) when our catamaran charter did not have any available.
I rank this experience second only to the live-aboard I did on the Great Barrier Reef, and taking into account the respective costs of both, this was much more value for the money.

My husband and I chartered UBS this spring for a day or diving and seeing the Baths at Virgin Gorda. I planned everything out with Kate, who was happy to email me itineraries, rates and available days. She was so nice. When we arrived they helped us with gear. Soon we were off. We had a dive, snorkel and a trek through the baths with Tony. He was a great guide who taught us so much about the area, fish and history of the island. He took pictures of us and was funny and just so much fun to be around. I thought the rate for a day of private tours and diving was really reasonable, and since we don't dive as often as we would like, this type of attention really put us at ease. I have been a diver for many years diving in Barbados, Australia, Belize, Bonaire and etc. This was right up there, if not better. Kate and Tony were really cool people who care about their island and give back. If we had more time or a rental vehicle we probably would have come back for kayak tours or more diving. Next time! Tony and Kate provide a wonderful diving experience in the BVI. They set up your equipment, help you in and out of the water, take you to beautiful diving spots appropriate to your skill level, and even fix your equipment if necessary. This was our second trip diving with UBS and both have been great. My 12 year old grandson was just certified last year. He was fearful of open water diving until he dived with Tony. He gave him the personal assistance he needed to develop confidence in diving off a boat and in deeper water. I needed a bit of extra help in getting out of the water due to a recent hip operation. Both Tony and Kate provided this help so that I was able to easily exit the water even with swells rocking the boat. Tony was able to fix some of my equipment problems as well. UBS provides personal service with a smile and great diving. I highly recommend them. Reviewed December 4, 2013 Great experience!
Had a great time with Tony and Kate. Tony met us at our charter boat and made 4 open water certification dives with my 10 year old son. He could not have been more patient with my son and we now have a new diver in the family. The rendezvous site was a bit out of range for them, but they made the 1 hour trek through some rough seas to find us. It was a great experience for our entire family. Just finished six great dives with Tony and Kate -- both enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpful dive masters. If you have kids who are just getting into diving, I highly recommend Kate who inspires confidence and makes the experience fun. Although I had some equipment issues, they were both right there to fix the problem and didn't make me feel guilty about losing one of their borrowed fins! Thanks, guys! We had a wonderful time. We had a great time diving around the British Virgin Islands. We dove with Kate Brunn of UBS Dive Center. Kate and her husband Tony run a nice, small dive shop that gives you personal attention.
This last picture on the right shows Divemaster Kate pointing out something for Megan. The picture on the left, and the picture below, shows a trumpetfish using a parrotfish for cover. Camouflage is an important tactic for trumpetfish, who are predators that eat smaller fish. Usually they hide in more conventional places, like this one we saw in Bonaire.
As you can see from the next few pictures, trumpetfish can be brightly colored. We can't imagine why this would be handy for anything except hiding next to parrotfish. Kate Brunn, co-owner of UBS Dive Centre along with her husband, Tony, told the National Geographic team of her own "supernatural" experiences diving the wreck, including hearing unusual sounds. "What was surprising," she said, "is that I'm not the only one who felt that diving inside the bow was creepy." Kate had heard that one of the first divers on the wreck site had placed some of the victims' bones into the vessel's bow. Intrigued by the stories, the television channel sent a crew to Tortola to weave a tale based around these incidents.
